Case Note: When a Buyer Needed Motorized Louvres on a Tight Retrofit Budget

In 2025 a hospitality buyer managing several café terraces came to us with a request that sits between categories: they wanted the convenience of motorized louvre roofs, but their budget did not stretch to replacing every existing structure.   • One pergola left manual, because retrofitting an unverified frame would have created a mechanism failure risk that no saving justified. We said this in writing in the proposal.
  • One new motorised unit quoted as an alternative for the third terrace, priced separately so the buyer could decide later without renegotiating the rest.
  • Electrical scope clearly split. We supplied the product-side wiring interface and mounting detail; site power work stayed with the buyer's local electrician, with our interface drawings to work from.

We also documented the control behaviour the staff would actually use: open and close routines, rain-position defaults, and what happens in a power cut. For a chain operation, staff-proof behaviour is worth more than any feature list.

Why this case is worth publishing

Buyers often expect suppliers to sell the biggest possible scope. The harder, more valuable move is scoping down to what can be confirmed and separating the rest into decisions the buyer can make later.
